Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions announced the integration of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 technology into the design of products that support its data warehousing strategy. SmartEnterprise Solutions provides financial, human resources and procurement applications that are designed to streamline the business processes of service-based organizations. The company's data warehousing strategy incorporates Microsoft Data Transformation Services and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) Services to provide customers with competitive, out-of-the-box business intelligence solutions.

Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions' new business intelligence platform uses Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 technology to give customers easier access to the data traditionally stored within enterprise applications. This greater access to information enables customers to make faster and more educated business-critical decisions. The combination of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 technology and SmartEnterprise Solutions' business intelligence applications provides Geac customers with superior tools for gathering data from multiple enterprise sources, building powerful query environments for using that data, and distributing business intelligence across the enterprise.

"As many of our larger enterprise customers select the Microsoft SQL Server platform, we have integrated SQL Server 7.0 technology into our business intelligence solutions to meet the full spectrum of their advanced reporting needs," said Kevin Wagner, director of technology product management, Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions. "By incorporating Microsoft technology into our data warehousing strategy, we can offer customers unique, out-of-the-box business intelligence applications that deploy rapidly, lower cost of ownership, and deliver greater return on investment."

"SQL Server 7.0 technology adds enterprise scalability and availability to cost-effective standard platforms," said Christy Reichhelm, accounting industry marketing manager, Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased that Geac is building capabilities on our platform by developing complete business intelligence solutions for our mutual enterprise customers."

Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 is a Windows NT Server-based database, bringing business advantage and improved decision-making to all levels of the organization through the power of data warehousing, industry solutions and interoperability with Microsoft Office. Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 enables independent software vendors and customers to build and deploy scalable database solutions for e-commerce, line of business, mobile computing, and data warehousing. Microsoft SQL Server is a member of the Microsoft BackOffice family, a set of servers that make it easy to build, manage, and deploy powerful business solutions.
