Sagent has worked closely with Microsoft to seamlessly integrate the Sagent Data Mart Solution to take advantage of and add value to all of the capabilities of SQL Server 7.0, including OLAP Services and Data Transformation Services (DTS). For data movement, Sagent complements DTS by supporting the extraction of large volumes of data and performing complex transformations. For data access, Sagent exploits the power of Microsoft's MDX language -- a multi-dimensional query syntax supported by OLE DB for OLAP -- allowing users to develop complex reports and analyses with SQL Server OLAP Services.
In addition, Sagent's Professional Services group has created new service and educational offerings focusing on helping novice data warehousing users build their first SQL Server 7.0 data warehouse, and transferring knowledge to ensure success of future data mart projects.

The power of Microsoft's OLE DB for OLAP enables users to perform complex queries that are not easily done with SQL language queries alone. Sagent's application server-based architecture also optimizes workload across data storage devices--such as SQL Server and OLAP Services--Web servers, and Web browsers, assuring that very complex tasks can be accomplished with very good performance. Finally, Sagent provides easy customization and creation of Web-based business intelligence applications enabling users to quickly create new applications that leverage SQL Server 7.0 and OLAP Services.
ROBUST DATA TRANSFORMATION OFFERS EASY UPGRADE PATH
SQL Server 7.0's Data Transformation Services provides a base level of extraction, transformation, and loading capabilities to enable users to get started building prototypes and/or their initial data marts. Sagent complements DTS and provides an easy upgrade path for dealing with large volumes of data and complex transformations. Utilizing a similar data flow paradigm, the combination of the two integrated technologies provides a seamless range of transformation capabilities.
Sagent provides an extensive library of pre-built functionality that dramatically reduces the complexity in data transformation. Through Sagent support for the Microsoft Repository 2.0, existing DTS transformations can be imported into the Sagent's environment. Finally, Sagent's data load server has been optimized to handle large volumes of data.
