OVUM GIVES INFORMATICA HIGHEST OVERALL RATING FOR
ENTERPRISE DATA WAREHOUSING TECHNOLOGY
Informatica Corporation, provider of the leading software platform for deploying enterprise business intelligence and analytic applications, announced its products received the highest ranking among nine competing data warehouse technology vendors in Ovum's recent report, Ovum Evaluates: Data Warehousing Tools and Strategies. The comprehensive report, which focuses exclusively on enterprise data warehousing products rather than departmental datamart technologies, is the latest affirmation that Informatica's PowerCenter and PowerMart are fast becoming the leading software platforms for enabling enterprise decision support.
As stated in the report, "Informatica's product set provides excellent support for flexible enterprise-strength decision support. Informatica's Enterprise Datamart Architecture, which is supported by its datamart product set, suggests a pragmatic two-tier data warehousing architecture to maximize consistency and re-use without losing the advantage of local datamart responsiveness."
Giving particularly high marks to Informatica's metadata support capabilities, the report also states, "The provision of the MX metadata exchange PowerPlug allows the best support for the delivery of metadata to end users that we have seen -- increasing data quality and datamart value by enabling confident interactive querying."
The seven criteria Ovum used to test and score data warehousing products for this report were ease of set-up, management, adaptability, support for growth, advanced data transformation, metadata for end users, and consistency and re-use. In addition to Informatica, other vendors evaluated by Ovum analysts included Ardent Software, Carleton, Constellar, D2K, ETI, Leonard's Logic, Platinum Technology, Prism and Systemfabrik.
