SAGENT RAPIDLY BECOMING 'DATA MART DU JOUR' AT MAJOR EUROPEAN ORGANIZATIONS; SAGENT SOLUTION CHOSEN AT BRITISH TELECOM, PLAYTEX, CARREFOUR

Sagent Technology Inc., provider of leading turnkey solutions for bringing data marts to the Web, announced that its data mart solution has been rapidly embraced by the European community, with major institutions such as British Telecom, Playtex and Carrefour -- one of the largest French retailers -- choosing Sagent as part of their strategic data warehouse and data mart initiatives.

Sagent's success in Europe, a short five months after establishing headquarters there, is a strong endorsement of the company's leading turnkey approach to getting critical business answers from complex data.

Sagent's blue-chip European customer portfolio also includes British Petroleum, British United Health Providers (BUPA) -- Britain's biggest health insurer -- United Distillers, Envergure, IFATEC, Grosfillex, Racal Radar Defense, and Telia InfoMedia, the largest telecommunications organization in Scandinavia.

"The quality and quantity of our customer base in Europe has far exceeded our goals," said Brian O'Kelly, vice president of Sagent Europe.

"Major organizations are now utilizing data warehouses and data marts as strategic tools to answer today's questions as well as to develop models for future success. Sagent's integrated solution set is helping our customers quickly solve problems that improve competitiveness, and we expect continued rapid growth in Europe."

British Telecom Yellow Pages, like most organizations, has a wealth of data in its operational systems, with great potential for exploring broader business issues.

They chose the Sagent Data Mart Solution to enable cross-functional, business-wide analyses to be performed using data from several operational systems. The arrival of Sagent Automation, a Sagent product which ensures accurate delivery of information that has been automated to load overnight, has further enhanced the Sagent solution for Yellow Pages.

"We found Sagent to be powerful and easy to learn and use, and the results have been impressive," said Jeremy Jones, head of data warehousing at BT Yellow Pages. "Sagent has allowed Yellow Pages to focus on what we needed to achieve rather than worry about how to achieve it."
