Dimensional Insight to Rely On Monarch Technology for Report-Based Data Acquisition
ACTION ITEMS

Datawatch Corporation, a leading provider of Enterprise Reporting and Service Center software, and Dimensional Insight, Inc., a leading provider of business intelligence software, announced a strategic technology licensing agreement. Under the agreement, Dimensional Insight will market Datawatch's Monarch report mining product as an extension to its popular DI-Diver data analysis tool. Dimensional Insight will also integrate Monarch technology with future releases of its DI-Diver, DI-Atlantis and DI-WebDiver suite.

DI-Diver provides data visualization, analysis and reporting for data held in flat files or in relational databases such as DB2 and Oracle. With the addition of Monarch report mining technology, DI-Diver can also acquire data from spooled report files produced on mainframe and midrange computers.

"By unlocking data held in reports, Monarch extends the reach of DI-Diver to a whole new universe of data," said Frederick Powers, president and CEO of Dimensional Insight. "Monarch greatly simplifies the data acquisition process. Data contained in reports has already been cleansed, formatted and denormalized."

Whenever a computer produces a report, it creates a report file that contains all the characters and control codes that are sent to a printer to produce the actual printout. Monarch reads that same report file and applies special parsing and recognition technology to unlock report data. Monarch can extract data from virtually any report, including simple columnar reports and complex reports with headers, footers and multiple sort levels.

"We are very happy to provide Monarch report mining technology to Dimensional Insight," said Marc Peterson, senior vice president of North American operations at Datawatch. "Our products are highly complementary. In fact, we will offer DI-Diver to Datawatch customers as an optional extension to Monarch and Monarch/ES."
