ADC Metrica announces strategic partnership with Unica Technologies

ADC Metrica, a business unit of ADC Telecommunications, and a world leader in network performance management, has signed an OEM agreement with Unica Technologies, Inc. a leader in the field of data mining. The announcement was made by ADC Metrica Managing Director Grant Wakelin, at the second Metrica User Group conference, in London, yesterday.

Unica Technologies, Inc. was selected by ADC Metrica as the leading candidate for such a relationship after a rigorous assessment of partnering options. The OEM agreement gives ADC Metrica the right to integrate Unica's data mining technology into new products.

Work has already begun among development teams from both organisations on a product that will more quickly detect, analyse and diagnose network faults. This new product will be positioned within the industry-standard Metrica/NPR product range, now installed in some 150 telecom networks around the world, and will use the Unica Data Mining Engine (UDME) as its core technology for analysing and profiling network performance statistics and problems. Selected customers will pilot the new product in 1Q 1999, before it is released generally in the summer of 1999.
