Fully Integrated with Pilot's PDSS OLAP Solution

Pilot Software, a leading provider of Web-based and client/server online analytical processing (OLAP) business intelligence solutions, has introduced What If Analysis, a new application that enables improved decision making through powerful, but easy business simulations.
What If Analysis is fully integrated with the company's Pilot Decision Support Suite (PDSS) and allows users to "try out" different business scenarios to determine their impact in advance of implementing them.
"Our customers have asked us for powerful, but reasonably priced applications that don't require sophisticated knowledge of mathematics or statistics to enable them to do 'what if' business simulations," said Walter Elliot, general manager, Pilot Software. "What If Analysis is an ideal fit for companies with such requirements," he said.
Using What If Analysis, users can create business scenarios based upon their company's historic data. By increasing or decreasing the values of various measures in a business model, regional sales or costs during a certain period, for example, they can then determine the impact of those local changes on the company.
Using What If Analysis, customers can:
Because the new application lets users act only on the part of the database containing the simulation scenario, it reduces both disk space requirements and processing time. Simulations can be seen in multiple views, different time periods and in all dimension levels. Users can also check percentage variations between original and simulated values and prepresent these in a graphical format.
What If Analysis is just one of a suite of pre-defined applications Pilot offers (including Retail Analysis also introduced today. See: Pilot Software Announces Retail Analysis Application) for swift, flexible deployment of solutions with customer data. Additionally, component objects allow for the easy customization and extension of these delivered solutions.
What If Analysis is fully integrated with PDSS, which is targeted at the full spectrum of cross-industry information users who need robust, high-performance analytical solutions. It enables people to analyze their operational, market and customer data, discover critical factors and trends that drive the business, then use that knowledge to take specific actions to optimize company performance.
The new application is available immediately and is priced beginning at $50,000.
