TURNER ENTERTAINMENT NETWORKS SELECTS BRIO
TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION FOR ENTERPRISE
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
Brio Technology announced that Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.'s Turner Entertainment Networks has chosen the Brio Enterprise suite of products and Informatica's PowerMart software to provide Intranet-based business intelligence to users across the enterprise.
TBS, Inc., a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc., is a major producer of news and entertainment products around the world and the leading provider of programming for the basic cable industry.
The Turner Entertainment Networks chose Brio Enterprise as the end user query, reporting and analysis software for its strategic data warehouse, or "reporting facility." Used across several Turner Entertainment organizations, the new reporting facility will provide company decision makers with integrated business information on filmed program rights, amortization costs, ad sales revenue and Nielsen ratings. TBS Inc.'s senior management will use the reporting facility to analyze operational costs, revenue and ratings data, making the best use of the group's important program inventory assets and facilitating program acquisition decisions.
The data warehouse is being developed on a Unix platform, Oracle 7.3 database, with the Brio Enterprise business intelligence suite and Informatica's PowerMart software for designing, deploying and managing enterprise-scalable data warehouses and data marts. Brio's web-enabled solution will be deployed to end users via TBS Inc.'s Intranet.
"We believe this data warehouse can contribute significantly to Turner's success, so choosing the right components was extremely important," said Peggie Potts, vice president of technology at Turner Entertainment Networks. "We put the vendors through a very intense evaluation process, but Brio and Informatica really came through. Our evaluation team loved the products and the companies' commitment to customer service was obvious."
"Brio is strongly committed to delivering an enterprise business intelligence product family that allows large corporations like Turner Entertainment Networks to provide their decision makers with instant insight into information," said Chris Grejtak, executive vice president of marketing at Brio Technology. "Now Turner will be able to take advantage of the integration between Brio's Open Metadata Interpreter and Informatica's Metadata Exchange Architecture to deliver a faster time-to-answer, while reducing their maintenance costs."
