SPSS for Express enables users to easily and directly access data contained in Oracle Express for use in data mining software from SPSS. The SPSS Oracle interface works with Oracle products Express Server 6.2 and Personal Express 6.2. Oracle's Express is among the leaders in enterprise OLAP solutions. This free interface program adds a complimentary functionality between two important software manufacturers. The interface gives Oracle Express users the ability to transfer data into the family of SPSS products for advanced analysis and data mining. It enables users to analyze data in a structured or ad hoc form using a multidimensional data model that includes support for what-if scenarios, forecasting and financial modeling. This interface easily connects Oracle Express data with powerful data analysis tools such as SPSS for Windows, NewView and AnswerTree to enable people to create multi-dimensional reports, mine their data, build models and distribute dynamic results via the web and email.
The release of SPSS for Express follows Oracle's choice of SPSS Inc. as a data mining partner in the Oracle Warehouse Initiative (WTI) joint marketing and product development program. This is the first group of Oracle data mining alliances to be formally announced; it is based on a qualification program designed to ensure customers are offered the market's best data mining solutions.
"We're pleased to provide this interface to Oracle Express users, and to be part of this innovative program," said Jack Noonan, SPSS president and CEO. "One of our ongoing efforts is to bring data mining applications, such as predictive modeling, forecasting, variance detection and multi-dimensional reporting, to a wider audience. The SPSS for Express Interface makes it easier for our customers to access the data they need for analysis."
"As a developer of market-leading OLAP products, Oracle recognizes the strong complementary relationship between OLAP and data mining tools," said Executive Vice President Gary Bloom of Oracle's System Products Division. "We welcome SPSS as a data mining partner, and believe SPSS for Express will increase the insights customers are able to get from their data."
