Amdocs Launches Churn Mgt System Software

Amdocs, already well known for its cellular customer care and billing system software, has unveiled a churn management package. Known as the Churn Management System (CMS), the software is based on the firm's existing data mining applications.
Announcing the new service and software, Norman Rafalowitz, Amdocs' senior vice president of international marketing, said that loss of revenues due to churn, which currently accounts for subscriber turnover of over 30 percent, can be significantly decreased.
"In today's competitive telecom environment, knowledge about the customer is the key to customer retention. Amdocs' Churn Management system translates telco data assets into effective customer retention solutions," he said.
According to Rafalowitz, in use, the CMS identifies customers most likely to churn and provides tools to devise effective retention strategies.
The system uses segmentation and data mining to probe customer information, discovering "profiles" of loyal customers and customers who are likely to churn.
These profiles, the company claims, reflect various combinations of usage, customer data, and socio-demographic factors. Customers vulnerable to churn are identified, scored, and ranked, based on these profiles.
Amdocs says that the analysis takes account of customer value, optimizing customer retention efforts by focusing on high-value customers. The system is billed as providing flexibility in defining customer value, which can be determined by parameters such as number of phone lines, average usage, revenue, and usage trends.
CMS forms part of Ensemble, Amdocs' convergent customer care and billing system. According to the company, the system can be integrated with any customer care and billing system and can be installed together with Ensemble or as a standalone module.
