Adaptive Media, Inc., a leading provider of real-time, Web-based visualization software for the extended enterprise, has announced that PrismTech Limited, a world leader in software products that facilitate application inter-operability and data warehousing, has selected Envision3D to provide real-time, Web-based visualization of OpenBase objects.
OpenBase is an Asset Lifecycle Database and a set of tools that enable end users to manage process, manufacturing plant and facilities data. Developed in cooperation with Foster Wheeler, an international organization that provides engineering services and products to a broad range of industries, OpenBase makes it possible to store data that is usable over the lifetime of a plant: from design, through construction and maintenance to decommissioning. The announcement was made at the annual DaratechPlant '99 Conference that is being held this week at the Wyndham Greenspoint Hotel. Adaptive Media is exhibiting in Salon 11. PrismTech, in conjunction with their partner Oracle, will be demonstrating a preview of the new Envision3D integrated capability on large-scale 3D model.
The integration of Envision3D into OpenBase provides OpenBase users with the benefit of being able to visualize specific plant objects -- pumps, valves and tanks, for instance -- in real-time 3D. Objects can be viewed in the context of neighboring objects and, most importantly, from any OpenBase client on the network. By providing Web-based streaming of complex 3D data, Envision3D offers plant engineers, project managers and other technicians that are involved in lifecycle data management with the ability to more quickly understand the interrelationships of different objects, and to more easily select objects for further query in the Oracle-driven back-end database. The net result is less time spent locating objects and more time spent managing valuable plant assets.
