INTERNATIONAL DATA CORP NAMES HYPERION SOLUTIONS THE ANALYTIC APPLICATIONS REVENUE LEADER

A recent report released by International Data Corp. (IDC) cites Hyperion Solutions Corp. as the clear leader in analytic applications, with nearly 18 percent market share.

The IDC report, Analytic Applications: 1998 Worldwide Markets and Trends (IDC No. 17524), also identifies Hyperion as the dominant provider of financial-related analytic applications, with more than 36 percent of the market. The report ranks vendors in the analytic applications market based upon revenue data from the 1997 calendar year.

IDC's preliminary analysis of 1998 trends indicates that Hyperion will maintain its position as the leading supplier in this market. IDC also predicts the analytic applications market will exceed $3.6 billion in revenues by the year 2002.

A second report, Data Warehousing Tools: 1998 Worldwide Markets and Trends (IDC No. 17622), segments the data warehouse tools market into three categories: data management, warehouse generation and information access tools. The three categories form the underlying platform for analytic solutions.

Hyperion Solutions, with its Hyperion Essbase OLAP (online analytical processing) Server and tools, is one of the leading suppliers in the information access category. IDC predicts the data warehouse information access tools market will reach $3.5 billion by 2002.

IDC's analytic applications report highlights Hyperion's leadership in multi-source financial consolidation, and in budgeting and planning.
