Data Warehousing Drives SAS Institute Sales Worldwide
ACTION ITEMS
SAS Institute Inc., a leader in integrated data warehousing and decision support, has announced strategic sales to prominent organizations worldwide.
Data warehousing and data mining were key technologies driving these sales to companies in manufacturing, telecommunications, banking and finance, and insurance, as well as to local-government organizations.
Data warehousing dominates U.S. sales
The Commonwealth of Kentucky has purchased SAS software as one of its tools to help undertake the state’s first steps in building an enterprise-wide data warehouse platform. The project unites the welfare, child-welfare, and employment services databases. It will allow the state to access client and programmatic information in a more comprehensive and accurate way. As part of the Governor's Empower KY initiatives, the data warehouse will enable various state agencies to work in a partnership structure. It will provide users with the ability to share data across programs and cabinets, assist their missions, and improve services to their customers.
Gerber Products Company, a leader in the manufacturing and marketing of food and care items for infants and children, called in SAS Institute to develop a new system for plant floor statistical process control. IPCS (Integrated Process Control System) is a SAS software-based quality-control application that currently combines data collection and statistical analysis capabilities. Ultimately, this system will include a quality control data warehouse.
Among other U.S. organizations purchasing SAS software are American Bankers Insurance Group, a Miami-based Fortune 1000 company that markets affordable, specialty insurance products and services through financial institutions, retailers and other entities offering consumer financing; the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga.; and the St. Paul Companies, a Saint Paul, Minn.-based group of companies providing insurance and reinsurance products and services worldwide.
Additional worldwide sales
