An upgrade to Brio Technology Inc.'s namesake software promises one-stop business intelligence while allowing construction of custom analytic applications.

Brio Enterprise 6.0, due by July, will offer a graphical development environment for organizations to design analytic applications customized for business needs. Version 6.0 also expands on query, reporting and OLAP (online analytical processing) with newly flexible drilling and morepowerful queries, said Brio officials in Palo Alto, Calif.

The report writer has been revamped to enable users to combine results of multiple queries into a single report. The Web-enabled suite also adds support for the OLE DB for OLAP specification, which enables native access to OLAP engines from Microsoft Corp., SAS Institute Inc., NCR Corp. and others. Native access was also added for OLAP engines from Informix Corp., Hyperion Solutions Corp. and IBM and for SAP AG's Business Warehouse.

Brio Enterprise 6.0 supports Windows NT, Solaris, AIX and HP-UX. Pricing was not disclosed. Brio can be reached at (650) 856-8000 or http://www.brio.com.
