Relational OLAP (ROLAP) solutions offer query, reporting, and analysis methods for day-to-day management of information. While multidimensional OLAP (MOLAP) technologies offer ROLAP capabilities as well as simulation and consolidation functions for cross-functional control and interactive analysis, each offers its own unique set of benefits.
"The current industry trend is toward hybridization, integration, and Web enablement," according to Bruce Tomlin, program director at SPEX. "It's a convergence of technologies that gives users greater functionality, ease of use, and lower costs of operations."
