Mindmaker, Inc. (previously known as Associative Cognition), a leading developer of intelligent personal assistants, speech I/O interfaces, and other artificial intelligence technology, announced that it is now shipping its DataScope 2.0 software package. This powerful yet easy-to-use application provides, for the first time, an advanced decision support solution and data mining capabilities that allow PC users to quickly and easily conduct professional-level data analysis.
Developed by Cygron, Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mindmaker, Inc. and winner of the European Information Technology Prize for 1997, this innovative software tandem lets managers, analysts, and consultants visually analyze the contents of a data-base, and then extract the knowledge hidden behind the raw data with just a few clicks of a mouse. For example, operational, financial, customer, product, scientific and other databases can be thoroughly probed to reveal hidden business challenges and opportunities, to explore meaningful relationships, and to suggest ranked decision alternatives.
"Until now, decision support and data mining have been viewed as enterprise only technologies that required huge investments in manpower and technology," stated Jeff Savage, Vice President of Mindmaker, Inc." We believe that, much like Quicken allowed everyone to take advantage of accounting software, DataScope will allow all PC users to access the incredible amount of information hidden in databases all around them."
With DataScope, data can be simultaneously analyzed from different points of view, thereby enabling users to discover new facts more quickly. The software graphically displays the contents of a database, and also provides tools to explore the relations between records. In addition, DataScope transforms the number-oriented contents of databases into analog diagrams that allow users to more effectively apply their intuitive abilities. DataScope also uses special visualization techniques that aid human thinking and intuition to data analysis. Specifically, these techniques allow the examination of global statistical information, as well as individual records, on the same screen without the need to switch modes.
DataScope is also the only data mining software that allows users to build a query graphically without a query language, as users simply need to use a mouse to build a query. Moreover, DataScope makes it easy to import and analyze any ODBC-compliant data from all popular databases such as dBase, Foxpro, Excel, MS Access and Paradox, and special cut and paste support for Microsoft Excel is included as well.
While DataScope is used to understand and evaluate the patterns and trends present in the data, another component serves as an active decision support tool. The software presents users with ranked decision alternatives, taking into account stated user preferences. DataScope 2.0 also helps the user to better understand the reasons behind the ranking, and enables them to selectively adjust the weights that determine the ranking.
"DataScope 2.0 provides PC users with a user-friendly decision support tool, one that's easy-to-use even for non-sophisticated users, but that still satisfies the needs of professionals in data analysis and corporate decision support," said Jozsef Kiraly, President of Mindmakers, Inc.
DataScope 2.0 is now available through both OEM and retail channels. DataScope sells for a suggested retail price of $129.95.
