Data Into Action, a Fullerton-based computer systems integrator, has announced it is implementing the latest technology in data warehousing and knowledge management at Toyota Motor Sales USA (TMS) and Toyota Credit Corporation (TMCC) USA headquarters in Southern California.

TMCC Controller Robert Dowe said Data Into Action has been contracted to install a system that will allow the company to improve its understanding of the profit contribution of products and customers from many different perspectives. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Doug Simao, president of DIA, said his firm has been working with Toyota for the past two years and already has implemented several systems to monitor and improve dealer profitability, budgeting and costing, decision support and other business and operational systems.

According to Simao, Toyota's new system is designed to generate more detailed financial reports to management at corporate, branch office and dealer levels. It is based on the Hyperion Essbase OLAP (online analytical processing) software and works with Toyota's IBM G5 mainframe and Compaq Proliants Essbase servers.

Data Into Action, whose clients also include Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Carl Karcher Enterprises, Conexant (formerly Rockwell Semiconductors) and others, specializes in data warehousing, the process of identifying and organizing a company's bank of computer-based knowledge -- or data -- and making it quick and easy to access by the people who need it.

The company is a strategic partner with Hyperion Solutions, a market leader in OLAP and data warehousing products.
