Constellar Utilizes CrossAccess SERIESfour to Extract Non-Relational Data

CROSS ACCESS Corporation has announced it has reached a marketing and technology agreement with Constellar Corporation, under which the two companies will partner, empowering companies to meet their growing demands for data mart and enterprise application integration (EAI) initiatives.

The agreement combines CROSS ACCESS' leading ability to extract and transport non-relational data from legacy databases with Constellar's enterprise-wide data transformation abilities. The two companies said they will work together to promote their joint solution to customers, as well as continue their technical partnership to strengthen the product offering.

The result of this agreement will be seen in the added ability of Constellar Hub to provide seamless and automated access to a wide range of legacy data sources, including VSAM, DB2 and IMS databases through CrossAccess SERIESfour. The combined CROSS ACCESS/Constellar offering will enable companies to import the mainframe data into the Constellar Hub, where it will undergo further integration and transformation needed for movement into a variety of enterprise-based applications.

Constellar Hub 3.0, announced on March 30, provides the added capability of IBM MQSeries connectivity to integrate batch- and message-based data in a single solution. With this additional functionality, the CROSS ACCESS/Constellar solution enables customers to fully integrate legacy data and message queues, without requiring any costly or risky retrofitting of legacy applications...thus saving time and money.

"CROSS ACCESS' solutions solve the complex problem of getting data out of mainframe data sources so it can be used by other business systems," said Ray Nawara, Chief Executive Officer of CROSS ACCESS. "Our ability to make legacy data appear as relational data, and to deliver it to Constellar Hub, represents a major step forward for companies. They need access to their legacy data, and need to transform it into workable data for today's systems. Together, CROSS ACCESS and Constellar are addressing that universal need," Nawara added.

"Most large organizations still maintain as much as 80% of their corporate data in legacy systems, so the ability to easily access and integrate that data is critical to nearly every major IT initiative, including data warehousing, system migration, and EAI," said Nicholas Birtles, president and CEO of Constellar. "Together, Constellar and CROSS ACCESS can provide a powerful solution for bridging the gap between legacy mainframes and other enterprise applications by fully automating the complex data extraction and transformation processes."
