ACTION ITEMS

Building on its experience as a leader in business-critical data warehousing, Hewlett-Packard Company has announced the next wave of its business-intelligence solutions, and the HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server, the first in a new class of high-performance midrange data-warehousing servers. With this announcement, HP is leveraging its position as the industry leader, with more than 11,000 ERP installations, to build the most comprehensive offering of business-intelligence solutions in the industry.

HP offers ERP business-intelligence solutions that include SAS's warehousing and decision-support for ERP systems, and MicroStrategy's technologies for extending supply-chain business intelligence. These solutions leverage the capabilities of the new HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server to provide faster implementation of sophisticated Internet-ready business-intelligence systems.

"Our customers demand Web access to business-critical information in real time," said Janice Chaffin, general manager for HP's Business Critical Computing Unit. "We are working closely with our partners to deliver the industry's most comprehensive, highly available business-intelligence e-services. HP's powerful servers, such as the HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server, and packaged solutions allow customers to concentrate on managing their businesses instead of worrying about their IT infrastructures."

The HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server simplifies the delivery of business-critical data-warehouse solutions by providing Web access to business intelligence with HP secure Web console and WebQoS. The HP secure Web console facilitates management from any point on the network through a browser. WebQoS is the first system to feature built-in prioritization that provides key users, suppliers and customers with consistent access to information via the Web. With HP's servers and business-intelligence solutions, managers now can access ERP-generated reports on customers and competitors via a familiar browser interface. Report and analytical tools are effectively brought to the desktop, enabling instantaneous communication with the entire supply chain via the Web.

"The Internet gives more users cost-effective access to critical information for making informed decisions," said Mike Howard, vice president of the Data Warehouse Program Office for Oracle. "Oracle's comprehensive data-warehousing solution, when combined with the HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server, makes powerful computing affordable and provides the performance demanded by Internet-enabled warehousing environments."

Exploiting ERP and Organizational Data with the SAS System

The SAS warehousing and decision-support solution for ERP systems provides a point-and-click interface to access and exploit ERP data easily. Business decision-makers can use Web-enabled interfaces to reach previously hard-to-access ERP system data for adhoc information needs. The SAS solution for ERP combines award-winning extraction, transformation, exploitation and Web technologies to make it possible for customers to achieve a return on their ERP investments. By extending I/O performance capabilities, the HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server enables the SAS solution to quickly uncover and exploit critical business information as part of an open, intelligent business decision-making process.

ERP Business Intelligence for Extended Supply Chain

Using MicroStrategy's DSS Web and DSS Broadcaster technologies, companies can deliver business intelligence to the entire supply chain to condense business cycles. MicroStrategy's DSS Broadcaster leverages existing and emerging communication channels, including e-mail, fax, pager and mobile phone, to deliver personalized information to users. These powerful products, combined with an HP 9000 N-Class Enterprise Server with HP secure Web console and WebQoS on the back end, provide the power, control and confidence that customers need for quick, reliable information access that extends through the enterprise and beyond.
