BANCTEC PROCESSFIRST OFFERS BUSINESS PROCESS MODELING FOR FINANCIAL APPLICATIONS

BancTec, Inc., a leading provider of transaction management solutions, is launching a powerful new service to simulate and improve processes for financial organizations. BancTec ProcessFIRST combines BancTec's consultants, a group of highly experienced financial process analysts, and WorkForecaster from Meta Software, the world's leading provider of workflow modeling and simulation for operations process improvement within the financial services industry. The result is a business process improvement service that provides highly flexible and interactive development of complex financial systems.

Key to the service is BancTec's knowledge and experience in core financial business processes. BancTec's consultants have years of experience in the market. "We have made it our business to be experts, as knowledgeable about our customers' businesses as we are about the technology we provide. BancTec offers a caliber of commercial and technical expertise, backed up by a commitment to customer service, that few other companies are able to match. By carefully listening to and fully understanding our customers' business issues and requirements we provide the best solutions possible," commented Kevin Roper, vice president, North American Systems.

"BancTec's service successfully integrates Meta's modeling and simulation experience and core competency with large financial organizations with BancTec's unique technical expertise and intimate knowledge of their customers' operations. The resulting combination should be a winning situation for all concerned," commented Meta Software President, Robert Seltzer.

Tuning the performance of critical systems through trial and error is almost useless in an environment in which changes occur faster than the lessons can be learned. As change becomes more rapid, modeling reduces the critical time to reaching project fulfillment.

BancTec and Meta are already proving the value of ProcessFIRST in a project in the check exceptions area of one of the U.S.'s largest commercial banks. While representing only 1 to 1.5% of total volumes, exception items that must be physically handled account for 10 to 20% of total costs. After a thorough analysis of the bank's current processes and resources, the ProcessFIRST team designed and modeled a new system that would eliminate the physical handling of the items and the manual research required to resolve problems. The resulting ProcessFIRST solution provides workers with a graphical workstation that calls up images of problem checks and related account information. Sophisticated business rules automatically guide problem resolution, increasing efficiency and reducing the chance for errors. The client projects that it will take just six months to recover its entire investment in the new ProcessFIRST solution and that total return on investment will be 10 to 1 over the next five years.

BancTec has also integrated Meta's WorkForecaster with its Plexus workflow software, FloWare. The integration provides a bi-directional interface between the business analysis workstation and the FloWare system. This unique interchange gives operations management the ability to automatically generate workflow simulations based on real-time data to achieve maximum operations productivity.
