Brio Extends Alliance With IBM to Deliver a Powerful
New Platform for Web-Based Analytic Applications
ACTION ITEMS
Brio Technology, Inc. has announced eWarehouse, a complete program for building and delivering the next generation of business intelligence applications for the Internet. The eWarehouse program combines the advanced analytic application development capabilities of Brio Enterprise 6.0 with IBM Visual Warehouse, along with training, support and partner programs.
The eWarehouse program contains a major upgrade of the Brio Edition of IBM Visual Warehouse* for the business intelligence applications market. IBM Visual Warehouse family of software packages, powered by DB2 Universal Database*, is designed to help companies quickly and successfully build, manage and analyze data warehouses and datamarts. The IBM Visual Warehouse Brio Edition, announced in August 1998, is part of IBM Business Intelligence Partnership Initiative and sold directly by IBM and through IBM's distribution channels.
With eWarehouse, organizations and developers will now be able to rapidly develop analytic applications that can be deployed on both intranets and extranets using standard web servers and browsers. The eWarehouse program features Brio Enterprise version 6.0's graphical development tools and JavaScript programming environment, and takes advantage of its open architecture and rich object model to make it easy to develop standalone applications or integrate new analytic capabilities into existing ones. The solution provides native support for DB2 Universal Database and DB2 OLAP*, a "Snap in" meta data connection for Visual Warehouse Information Catalog, and, will be available for both AIX* and Windows NT server environments.
"eWarehouse is an excellent example of how IBM's partnership with leading business intelligence vendors such as Brio Technology is delivering state-of-the-art products and value to our mutual customers for the next generation of web applications," said Jim Kelly, vice president, data management marketing, IBM Software Solutions. "In addition, this announcement further demonstrates the power, scale and flexibility of DB2 Universal Database as the foundation for business intelligence and e-business solutions."
"In order for organizations to realize all of the benefits of e-business, they need more than just an eCommerce site," said Chris Grejtak, executive vice president of marketing at Brio. "Brio believes that a successful e-business program requires a business intelligence application development environment that allows organizations to build solutions that reflect the dynamics of this new business approach. The eWarehouse program builds on the collective strengths of Brio Enterprise and IBM Visual Warehouse, providing an ideal development platform for this requirement."
The complete eWarehouse program will be available this summer. For more information on the eWarehouse program and Brio's inclusion in the IBM Business Intelligence Partnership Initiative, go to http://www.brio.com/ibm.
