DATAMETRIX TO DEBUT SUITE OF RETAIL DATA AND ANALYSIS PRODUCTS
MPSI Systems Inc. has announced final plans for the June 30th introduction of a new suite of retail data products through DataMetrix Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary whose mission will be to leverage MPSI's 30 years of retail data expertise and extensive worldwide retail data warehouse. DataMetrix will bring model-quality, spatial retail data to a broad cross-section of industries dependent upon consumer behavior. "DataMetrix will initially focus on providing model caliber street network, traffic, lifestyle and other information for the United States," said Jim Auten, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of DataMetrix. "Although the target release date for U.S. data is June 30, 1999, comparable data will be available in key international markets by the end of the year 2000."
DataMetrix will be the one-stop shop for clients who need not only geographic data, but also data-mining software tools or turnkey solutions to maximize business intelligence. The Company will license a suite of software products which mine information in order to facilitate mission-critical decisions associated with the management of customer databases and retail networks -- from one outlet to thousands of outlets. "Our decision support technology has been developed by our parent company over 30 years of practical use by petroleum and convenience retailers. Harnessing that modeling knowledge for the benefit of a variety of industries and making the technology available not only to the power user, but to the single proprietor will be the DataMetrix mission," said Auten.
"In addition to installed products for the enterprise user, we ultimately intend to combine our data warehouse and our decision support software through the Internet, thereby making it accessible to users who do not have and do not need sophisticated technology networks," added Auten. "Users will not have to acquire shrink-wrapped software or pay significant license fees for large databases when they only have an interest in a small geographic area. Our users will ultimately be able to log onto the Internet, select a specific geographic location and use our deep set of data products and software to analyze both customer and site-oriented variables."
The DataMetrix business strategy is to enlist an elite group of business partners with expertise targeting an array of vertical industries to supplement its staff of 40 data and software professionals. DataMetrix will develop the generic data sets and software -- the business partners will develop industry-specific user interfaces and assist with sales and marketing.
"We are very excited about the possibilities of the DataMetrix unit," said Ronald Harper, Chairman of MPSI Systems Inc. "Recent corporate consolidations in the geographic data industry have resulted in fewer choices and higher prices for those who need mission-critical information and the tools to turn that information into competition-busting knowledge. We believe that the entry of DataMetrix into this marketplace will set a higher standard for data providers as well as benefit users through more competitive pricing."
