Columbus Molecular Software, Inc. to Collaborate With Pfizer Ltd. on Development of New Technology for Chemistry-Based Decision Support System
Columbus Molecular Software, Inc. (http://www.columbus-molecular.com), a premier developer of new decision support software for lead discovery and development has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Pfizer Ltd. to collaborate on the use and development of Columbus Molecular's chemistry-based decision support system to identify new candidates for drug development.
Under the terms of the agreement, Pfizer will provide data, product development guidance and initial funding over the course of the further development of Columbus Molecular's proprietary LeadScope decision support software system.
Columbus Molecular will license to Pfizer its software and computational models for use with Pfizer's compound libraries.
Techniques that dramatically increase the number of potential drugs that are made and tested are critical in accelerating the drug discovery and development process. Columbus Molecular's LeadScope decision support software tools allow scientists to accelerate the pace of drug discovery. The company provides chemically intelligent data visualization software that helps pharmaceutical scientists interactively explore the vast amounts of chemical and biological screening data generated and thus find the knowledge that has been lost in the deluge of research information.
"We welcome Pfizer as our first development partner," said David Brownstein, Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Molecular. "Their support for the advanced development of our informatics products confirms the strong need for comprehensive solutions to data analysis within research organizations. Decision support tools traditionally have been used to accelerate the drug discovery and development process by improving project selection and management in the early selection criteria for clinical drug leads. Columbus Molecular's products and services move these types of tools into early lead discovery and thereby enable research organizations to more easily accomplish their goals."
