K.wiz 2.0 Expands the Realms of Knowledge Discovery; New Algorithms and Visualization Techniques Boost High Value Markets
K.wiz Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Gentia Software, has announced the release of K.wiz 2.0, their data mining and knowledge discovery software.
K.wiz is known in the market place for its unique "plug and mine" technology and distributed open architecture that delivers unmatched scalability, performance, automation and deployment capabilities. With K.wiz 2.0 now released, the addition of new features, particularly the Accelerated Database (ADB), has further increased its unique attributes. The ADB is a unique patented compression technology, which allows K.wiz to handle vast amounts of data and deliver a superior response time.
"The scope of products that would benefit from the embedded technology of K.wiz has increased with the addition of the ADB," said Tim Jones, chief technology officer at K.wiz Solutions. "K.wiz can handle immense amounts of data with the ability to cache at any stage of the process giving complete flexibility to the user, particularly for telecom, financial, e-commerce and retail applications," continued Jones.
Enterprise Application Integration is further enhanced through the support of XML. The use of XML promotes the use of standards in data interchange in the enterprise. K.wiz already has the ability to read and write to any relational database through its JDBC components and easy adoption to hybrid data sources through generic data extraction components.
"People in marketing and sales, financial and risk analysis, fraud detection, and production need to analyze huge amounts of data. We see a large benefit in the ability to provide data mining functionality to business users. They are not data mining experts. It is important that this functionality is integrated into the tools they are accustomed to working with," said Wolfram Willuhn, senior consultant at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. "K.wiz was designed from the beginning as a framework for the development of data mining solutions that can be deployed to a large number of end users and embedded into other applications. We see this as one of the most promising ways for turning the use of data mining technology into a success," continued Willuhn.
Users have individual preferences to the way they would like to view the patterns found in the Knowledge Discovery process. K.wiz has expanded its range of visualization tools to include Decision Tree and Association Rule viewers. "We recognize that each industry as well as each user needs to have as much choice as possible when analyzing the results. K.wiz not only provides a wide range of algorithms and visualization tools but also the versatility for the user to add their own components," said Peter Docherty, vice president of engineering at K.wiz Solutions. "We have also developed an Association Rule component giving K.wiz the essential tools for companies who are looking at fraud detection, such as telecom and financial institutions," continued Docherty.
K.wiz continues to build upon its ease of use with the introduction of the Plan Wizard. The Plan Wizard enables users, especially those new to Knowledge Discovery, to be taken through a step by step path to a successful solution. K.wiz can include industry specific or custom Wizards.
K.wiz Solutions continues to demonstrate its committed support for Java development and will showcase K.wiz 2.0 at JavaOne, June 15-18th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
K.wiz delivers a new KD solution that combines ease of use with scalability and is based on the latest version of the Java 2 Platform. The advanced client/server K.wiz framework provides a distributed architecture that enables machine learning and data mining algorithms to exploit the power of the Java platform. K.wiz 1.0 has been commercially available since December 1998.
