SAS Institute Offers Services From The Data Mining Discovery Center

SAS Institute Inc., a market leader in integrated data warehousing and decision support, has announced unique data mining consulting services that can be performed at the Institute's Data Mining Discovery Center.

Customers who lack the time, resources and technical capabilities to use analytical techniques effectively at their sites can take advantage of the Institute's resources at the Data Mining Discovery Center in Cary, NC. SAS Institute's data mining consultants can develop customized data mining solutions using the latest technology and technical expertise. Reinforcing its partnership with SAS Institute, Hewlett-Packard provides state-of-the-art hardware to the center, as well as extensive experience designing balanced systems for both UNIX and NT environments.

"We want our customers to get the most out of our data mining software, so we have packaged some of our most popular services to jump-start customer data mining activities," said Jerry Oglesby, director of analytical consulting, SAS Institute's North America.

A range of services can be performed at the Data Mining Discovery Center or at customer sites. Packaged offerings include proof-of-concept, prototype and implementation services. In addition to the packaged offerings, SAS Institute consultants can provide services to meet each customer's specific business requirements.

During a proof-of-concept service, SAS Institute consultants demonstrate an application that responds to one business question with one critical success factor. For example, consultants can build a response model for a single marketing campaign.

After a prototype service, customers receive a working prototype that responds to one business question with up to two critical success factors. This option may produce a profit chart to determine the optimal segment of target prospects and the expected response rate for a campaign.

An implementation service provides a production-ready application that responds to one business question with up to three critical success factors. Customers also receive documentation that includes information about the data mining approach and data mining techniques used.
