TIME WARNER CABLE SELECTS EXPERIAN FOR DATABASE MARKETING SOLUTIONS; ANALYTIX SYSTEM WILL HELP COMPANY MARKET NEW CABLE PRODUCTS

Time Warner Cable, one of the nation's largest owner and operator of cable systems, has selected Experian's AnalytiX System to assist the company in tracking historical trends, reporting and targeting potential customers with new products such as digital cable and high-speed cable modems.

Time Warner Cable began looking for a solution because the marketing department was managing its own internal data warehouse. "That required computer programming skills, when we really wanted to be in the marketing business," said Rob Sadler, corporate vice president of marketing for Time Warner Cable. "In addition, our corporate data warehouse wasn't accessible to people in the local offices, which is where the action is. AnalytiX offers the field local, desktop access to a powerful database marketing tool."

The AnalytiX System, a powerful Windows-based software product, allows users to quickly integrate large amounts of data from a variety of sources to perform market segmentation, customer and promotion tracking, profitability analysis and in-depth market research to drive strategic marketing decisions. The AnalytiX System includes a sophisticated marketing data mart, a powerful database marketing application and tight integration with leading data mining and statistical modeling applications.

Time Warner Cable looked at several different companies based on criteria including telecommunications experience, ease-of-use, cost-effectiveness, knowledgeable staff, support and training. Experian was chosen based on the company's extensive history of providing database marketing solutions for telecommunications companies.

Time Warner Cable is in the process of deploying the AnalytiX System and plans to have six locations throughout the country up and running by the end of the year, with additional deployment sites planned over the next two years.

Time Warner Cable also plans to append additional information from Experian on household-level demographics to the system. They will weave it into the AnalytiX System to enhance cable history and profiling capabilities.

With 12.6 million customers, Time Warner Cable is the nation's largest owner and operator of cable systems. The company's substantial investments in fiber-optic system upgrades and new digital technology enable customers to receive more and better programming, enhanced picture and sound quality, improved signal reliability and advanced telecommunications products and services. These products and services include new cable networks, multiplexed premium channels, new digital program tiers and pay-per-view options, high-speed online service through cable modems, cable telephony and more local programming.
