Business Objects To Host 5th Annual International User Conference
Business Objects, a leading provider of integrated enterprise decision support tools, has announced its fifth annual international user conference.
The 1999 Business Objects International User Conference will be held October 17-20, 1999, at the Sheraton Harbor Island hotel in San Diego. This year's conference theme, "Experience Extreme Knowing," will address emerging trends and issues in the e-business intelligence market.
J. Edward Russo will co-keynote the conference and address the topic, "Turning Information Into Knowledge." Dr. Russo is a professor in Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management and focuses his research on decision making for managers and consumers. He is co-author of the best selling Decision Traps, a book for managers on the behavior aspects of decision making.
InfoWorld editor in chief Sandy Reed will also deliver a keynote address, entitled "What Keeps IT Executives Awake at Night." In addition to her editing post, Reed serves as senior vice president/editorial director of InfoWorld Media Group, a division of International Data Group. She has more than 20 years of journalism experience and has twice been named by Marketing Computers magazine as one of the most influential journalists covering the computer industry.
This year's conference provides an extensive curriculum. Five pre-conference training classes provide hands-on instruction on getting the most out of Business Objects products.
Dr. Russo will also hold a pre-conference class where he will present a powerful framework for the decision-making process. The format will be highly interactive, as the key lessons will be conveyed through actual decisions, cases, and other activities. Space is limited to fifty conference attendees.
Customers can choose from 50 conference sessions in five tracks covering E-Business, Integrating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems and Business Intelligence (BI), Enterprise BI Deployments, BI Application Development, and New Products and Technology. Sessions are designed for IT professionals and end users and include:
"We're very excited about this year's conference and sharing our vision for harnessing the power of e-business intelligence," said Jon Temple, senior vice president and general manager of Business Objects North America. "E-business intelligence is hot and this year's conference will enable our customers to leverage collective experience in this exciting new area."
In addition to the conference sessions, Business Objects will present the winners of the second annual Excellence Award. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges including Sandy Reed, editor in chief at InfoWorld; Wayne Eckerson, manager of the information assets service, Patricia Seybold Group; and Alex Moissis, vice president of North America marketing at Business Objects. Winners will be recognized and presented a plaque by Bernard Liautaud, president and CEO of Business Objects, in a general session at the conference and will receive a free pass to next year's conference.
