MICROSTRATEGY TELECASTER DELIVERS E-BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE TO CUSTOMERS DIRECTLY VIA THE TELEPHONE
MicroStrategy Incorporated, a leading worldwide provider of e-business intelligence software, has announced the general availability of MicroStrategy Telecaster, the first product that proactively delivers important information directly from a data warehouse to a telephone. MicroStrategy Telecaster allows organizations to build and improve relationships with every employee, partner, or customer by initiating fully personalized and interactive dialogs.
With MicroStrategy Telecaster, organizations can reach their customers via the telephone with highly personalized information. Based on either pre-set schedules or individually-defined exception criteria, MicroStrategy Telecaster uses sophisticated data analysis to determine if and when a call should be placed and automatically makes a telephone call once the right conditions have been met. The new product also enables customer interactions using the keypad of the telephone. When MicroStrategy Telecaster reaches a customer, the telephone keypad allows the recipient to act on the information - customers can respond, request more information, or even make a purchase.
"Companies are beginning to recognize the importance business intelligence can play in the development of e-business solutions," said Wayne Eckerson, Senior Consultant, Analyst at the Patricia Seybold Group. "Customers don't want to spend time learning new technologies, exploring vast databases, or sorting through reams of reports. They just want relevant data sent to them along with the capability to act on the data. This is true for corporate users and consumers. MicroStrategy Telecaster satisfies this need by offering the interactivity inherent in the Web with the personalization inherent in the telephone. By delivering timely, dynamically generated information and enabling users to close the loop via the telephone, MicroStrategy Telecaster should be a powerful tool for developing intelligent e-business applications and customer relationship management solutions."
"What makes MicroStrategy Telecaster so exciting is the limitless scope of e-business solutions organizations can develop with it," said Michael Saylor, president and CEO of MicroStrategy Incorporated. "Imagine an 'intelligent e-ticket' - one that is purchased just like a traditional e-ticket, but functions as an interactive travel assistant. This ticket would automatically call you with flight updates and alternative flight options if your flight is changed or canceled. You could use MicroStrategy Telecaster to immediately change your itinerary by pushing buttons on your telephone. In addition, the intelligent e-ticket would provide travel-related assistance for a complete, hassle-free experience. With MicroStrategy Telecaster, for the first time, interactive, one-to-one customer relationships are possible via the telephone."
MicroStrategy Telecaster uses sophisticated data analysis to determine if and when a call should be placed. Based on either pre-set schedules or individually-defined exception criteria, MicroStrategy Telecaster automatically makes a telephone call once the right conditions have been met. For example, if a stock in a portfolio is down greater than 10%, MicroStrategy Telecaster retrieves this information directly from the data warehouse, determines which customers are impacted, formats the information for the telephone interaction, then places calls to each individual.
MicroStrategy Telecaster includes an XML-based engine that creates a personalized message for each customer, and continuously adapts to the interaction during each information exchange during the telephone call. The entire interaction, including the content, personal greeting, and every menu option, is dynamically-generated in real time for each individual. The message content is created based upon each user's preferences, and is transmitted through a text-to-voice engine that converts text into audible output. In addition to dynamically generating the content for each message, XML provides an open standard for data transfer between applications, minimizes integration issues for reduced time to market, and allows organizations to easily customize their application to address their exact customer needs.
MicroStrategy Telecaster enables organizations to "close the loop" with their customers directly via the telephone. When MicroStrategy Telecaster reaches a customer, the telephone keypad allows the recipient to act on the information - customers can respond, request more information, or even make a purchase. MicroStrategy Telecaster delivers the interactive capabilities that organizations have embraced with the World Wide Web to the telephone. In addition, MicroStrategy Telecaster not only "talks," it "listens " to user responses in the form of keys pressed on the telephone, and adapts the next phase of the interaction instantaneously. MicroStrategy Telecaster can differentiate between a live person and a voice mail, and tailor the dialogue or message accordingly.
MicroStrategy offers customers two options for deploying their MicroStrategy Telecaster applications. Organizations can host their telephony call servers on-site or take advantage of MicroStrategy's Voice Bureau. MicroStrategy's Voice Bureau allows organizations to develop and deploy their MicroStrategy Telecaster applications quickly with little infrastructure investment. MicroStrategy's Voice Bureau is a dedicated data center that interacts with organizations' MicroStrategy Telecaster solutions to place all calls. Organizations simply send encrypted messages from their MicroStrategy Telecaster application to the MicroStrategy Voice Bureau via an HTTPS gateway, and all calls are placed.
"MicroStrategy Telecaster has the potential to be a major factor in the success of any online business," said Weimin Lu, director of data warehousing at BestBuy.com. "Now, customers will be able to receive up-to-date and fully personalized information. MicroStrategy Telecaster creates a one-to-one dialog over the telephone where people can get what they want from online merchants with a touch on their telephone keypad. With MicroStrategy Telecaster's ability to reach customers with the right information at the right time, online merchants can look to quickly expand their customer base as well as increase their customer retention rate."
MicroStrategy Telecaster is available immediately. MicroStrategy Telecaster runs on Windows NT, and is priced at $35,000. The purchase of MicroStrategy DSS Server is required. MicroStrategy Telecaster may be purchased directly from MicroStrategy or from authorized re-sellers around the world.
