MineSet 3.0 Enterprise Edition Extends The Power Of Visual Data Mining To Knowledge Workers Throughout The Enterprise
SGI has announced the immediate availability of MineSet 3.0 Enterprise Edition for Windows and IRIX users. After an extensive and successful worldwide beta program, SGI has incorporated additional features based on customer feedback including a comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API), faster run-time libraries, and access to more than 30 different file formats including Microsoft Excel, FoxPro, Matlab, SAS, SPSS, S-Plus, Statistica and Systat products.
SGI's MineSet visual data mining technology provides users with the in-depth insight needed to make more strategic business decisions. Its powerful multi-dimensional visualizations help users make sense of the complex data sets that result from data mining analyses and was designed to accelerate users' time to insight for applications such as customer relationship management, fraud detection, portfolio modeling and bioinformatics.
"Experian has been using MineSet to uncover new opportunities by analyzing data in its customer data warehouse. The SAS import capability, the Application Programming Interface and the ActiveX web interface make MineSet 3.0 Enterprise Edition even more valuable to Experian," said Jason Katakura, a senior technical consultant, Experian.
With the introduction of MineSet 3.0 Enterprise Edition, SGI extends the power of visual data mining to the broad base of Windows users. MineSet 3.0 adds connectivity with all leading Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) compatible databases including SQL Server, DB2, Sybase and Informix, and MineSet provides native connection to all Oracle databases. Also new on MineSet 3.0 are ActiveX visualization components that allow independent software vendors (ISVs), resellers and customers to create custom web-enabled solutions running on the Microsoft Windows platform.
"By incorporating Microsoft's OLE DB for Data Mining API into MineSet, SGI is bringing intuitive and powerful visual data mining capabilities to the rapidly growing base of SQL Server users," said Andrew Hoover, group industry manager, Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, Microsoft. "SGI's vision to bring data mining to every knowledge worker throughout the enterprise is closely aligned with Microsoft's knowledge management initiative. We're very pleased to be working with SGI to help make data mining a standard line-of-business application for our customers."
"We're working closely with SGI to bring integrated OLAP and visual data mining solutions to customers looking to draw more insight from data and realize greater return on their IT investments," said Sanju K. Bansal, chief operating officer, MicroStrategy Incorporated. "SGI's MineSet 3.0 Enterprise Edition complements MicroStrategy's suite of business intelligence software by enabling closed-loop analysis on very large data sets for faster and better informed decision-making. With MicroStrategy's strength in delivering critical information to people proactively and interactively within the enterprise and beyond, this combined solution will provide tremendous benefit to customers."
