For Year 2000

DCI has announced that META Group's Doug Laney and Mark Smith will be the new event co-chairs of DCI's Data Warehouse World Exposition and Conference for 2000. The two will replace META Group's Aaron Zornes, who will now be a co-chair of DCI's Customer Relationship Management Conference and Exposition. This change will take place starting with the Chicago event on February 15-17, 2000.

Laney is META Group's lead data warehouse industry analyst. He is presently the senior program director of application delivery strategies. He is an experienced practitioner and authority on business performance management solutions, information supply chain architecture, decision support system project methodology, consulting practice management, and data warehouse development tools. He previously held positions with Prism Solutions as a consulting practice director for its Central US and Asia-Pacific regions, as a methodology product manager, and as a consultant to Latin American clients. With data warehouse solution involvement on dozens of projects, his field experience spans across most industries.

Smith is a leading authority in analytical applications, information portals, and related areas of business performance management (BPM). He is presently the program director of application delivery strategies at META Group. Prior to joining META Group in May 1999, Smith had more than 12 years in the industry and has held management-level positions in marketing and development for WhiteLight Systems, AlphaBlox, InfoSpace/Viador, Oracle, and IRI Software.

Laney and Smith are enthusiastic about their involvement with DCI. "META Group is extremely pleased to carry forward our relationship with DCI into the next millennium," said Laney and Smith. "The data warehouse has emerged as the information cornerstone of nearly all strategic business initiatives today. Organizations can no longer afford to treat data warehousing as disjointed science experiments. The best-practices education and technology exposure that Data Warehouse World offers attendees ensures they are well-equipped to implement world-class solutions for their organizations."
