IBM Captures Highest Rating In Data Warehousing And Business Intelligence Systems Vendor Satisfaction And Mindshare

Survey.com, a leading eResearch services company, announced that results of the BI/DW Research Program's Data Base Solutions III (DBS III) survey clearly establish IBM as the leading data warehousing and business intelligence systems vendor in both customer satisfaction and mindshare. In 1998 IBM was the leading BI/DW vendor, with revenues estimated at $4.25 Billion.

For overall customer satisfaction, IBM received the most "extremely satisfied" customer mentions of any system vendor in a random survey of 500 North American companies. Hewlett Packard was a close second followed by Compaq and Sun Microsystems. IBM was ranked first in overall business intelligence and data warehousing mindshare followed by Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard and Compaq.

Michael Burwen, Executive Vice President of the BI/DW Research Program stated that "IBM's vision and focus on the business intelligence and data warehousing market is reflected in the DBS III results, and the company is well positioned to capitalize on the growth ahead. Our data indicates that after Y2K issues are resolved, organizations will double, and in some cases even triple their current budgets for data warehousing and business intelligence projects."

The technologies of business intelligence and data warehousing are a key component of strategic initiatives that enable corporations to maintain their competitiveness and increase revenue. Business directives such as customer relationship management and customer profile analysis are dependent on a solid business intelligence and data warehousing technology infrastructure.
