Point Of Sale Ltd Unveils Innovative Data Warehousing Product
Point of Sale Ltd. has announced that StorePoint, Inc., its US subsidiary, will introduce C-Point Decision Support System (DSS) at the NACS Trade Show which opens October 3 in Chicago.
C-Point DSS is a newly developed navigational tool that uses OLAP cube technology to give retailers the ability to warehouse and mine enormous quantities of collected data. With enterprise-wide data warehousing and OLAP (on-line analytical processing) functions, retailers can analyze the effect that combinations of business dimensions (products, store location, stock, time, etc.) have on key business measures (revenue, profit, net profit, etc.). As result, C-Point DSS can immediately improve the business decisions and forecasting of retailers.
Saul Simon, Vice President of Marketing for Point of Sale, said, "The company's offerings to date have focused on providing a "Host to POS" solution, whereby multiple, tightly coupled POS formats communicate sales-related data with the host computer. We have now stepped up to the challenge of providing analysis tools that allow retailers to better understand how their business presently operates and what corrections should be made in order to improve bottom-line performance."
Doug Fick, Vice President of Sales for StorePoint, commented, "The power of DSS is in helping the chain operator to know which stores and products are performing at what levels and why. This will help them forecast, modify promotions, pricing and even evaluate store locations."
The Decision Support System encompasses a data warehouse platform and project, a powerful front-end for visualization and analysis, and a ready-to-use set of business views. Following a data cleansing process and loading into the data warehouse, business users can immediately begin to analyze and extract the data they require for improved business decisions.
Business views can be modified by non-technical users, and the ODBC protocol enables data to be shared with other standard software applications such as Microsoft EXCELT and similar databases. DSS also features on-screen help through the Analysis Wizard which assists in refining search criteria.
C-Point DSS will be demonstrated in the StorePoint booth no. 1231 at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show beginning October 3 at Chicago's McCormick Center.
