After Academia - Ph.D.s Solve Real World Communications Problems

Statistical Modeling, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Decision Trees ... sound intimidating? Not to this group. Athene Software, Inc. has formed an Advanced Technology Group (ATG) and gathered a team of the best and brightest Ph.D.s in the area of advanced statistics and machine learning to help develop software that solves the most pressing problems vexing Communications Service Providers (CSPs) today. Increased competition has resulted in growing pressures on CSP's profit margins, increasing churn rates, declining revenue per user, difficulties in accurately predicting customer behavior and the need to manage individual customer profitability.

By applying state-of-the-art machine learning models and advanced statistical techniques in a native web software application, Athene's ATG is able to provide customer-specific prediction and customer-centric solutions to maximize customer retention and allow management of customers by their profitability potential.

Two of the newest members to the Athene's Advanced Technology Group, Cesar Guerra and Lian Yan, have been working in machine learning for over seven years. Cesar earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from ITESM with a research focus in the area of genetic search-based feature selection. Lian received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Penn State, focusing his research on machine learning, time series analyses, data mining, neural networks, and telecommunications.

"Athene Software is a company that utilizes all of the advancements made in the area of machine learning," stated Dr. Richard Wolniewicz, vice president of engineering for Athene. "By applying leading edge technology to the challenges facing CSPs, Athene is able to offer the most technically advanced solutions to real-world problems. The Advanced Technology Group is on the leading edge of predictive technology. They continue to find new, innovative, and unique solutions to problems facing the communications industry."

About Machine Learning

Machine Learning algorithms, including techniques such as neural networks and decision trees, allow computers to discover complex and often opaque relationships from the combination of historical data and sophisticated domain expertise to make accurate predictions.
