Geac's Cross-Platform Data Warehousing Solution Enables Customers To Capture A Paperless View Of Their Business

Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions, a provider of enterprise business solutions, announced that it has extended its SmartEnterprise Warehouse for client/server computing platforms. This open data warehousing solution delivers decision support that enables customers to capture and analyze financial, human resource, and procurement data from both Geac and non-Geac applications.

"We're very excited about the positive response we've received from customers to date and feel that SmartEnterprise Warehouse offers them a truly unmatched data warehousing and analysis solution," said Gerard Frey, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions. "More than a technology offering, SmartEnterprise Warehouse is a solution that enables customers to capture emerging business opportunities and achieve faster ROI. SmartEnterprise Warehouse is the first in a series of business solutions we are delivering this year that empower customers to increase productivity, obtain a clearer view of their business and leverage business to business opportunities."

"We selected Geac's financial and SmartEnterprise Warehouse solutions based on the company's 30 years of expertise and its applications' proven capabilities," said Chuck Norris, vice president and chief information officer at Aqua Chem. "Since implementing the system, it has run absolutely flawlessly and has created a virtually paperless reporting environment. As a result, we have gained greater access to enterprise data and can make quicker and more informed decisions."

Partnering with Business Objects, Cognos, and Informatica, Geac delivers a solution that simplifies the process of translating transactional data into decision support databases. This is achieved by automatically interpreting, transforming, and cleansing data, then loading it into three pre-delivered data marts - financial, human resource and procurement. By providing one central repository, SmartEnterprise Warehouse also ensures that mission-critical information is accurate and reporting is consistent throughout the organization.

SmartEnterprise Warehouse leverages client/server architecture by distributing processing to UNIX- and Windows NT- based servers and workstations. The solution has native interfaces with Sybase, Oracle, Informix, and Microsoft SQL Server databases and is built upon a data model foundation for Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). In addition, Geac has partnered with Application Partners Inc., a consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.
