AskAround Addresses Tight Silicon Valley Labor Market With Proprietary Data Mining Technology

AskAround Inc., a Silicon Valley startup, has reported success with combatting the tight labor market with its proprietary patent-pending data mining technology. This technology is currently being prepared for online consumer use. It will be offered free to consumers in the winter of 1999 at AskAround.com.

"Recruiting top talent in this market requires every advantage a company can muster. Our story is exciting and we usually land whom we go after, but finding them is the challenge." CEO Patrick Boyle said. AskAround turned its "agents" loose on the online resume web sites; the agents return qualified resumes each morning so the in-house recruiter can follow up quickly. "Using the AskAround agents saves us 90% of the time and effort over continuously searching web sites, or managing those site's alerting tools," he adds.

AskAround is currently constructing a free agent based consumer service for http://AskAround.com/. A variety of consumer applications are planned, from the " Weekender" personal event finder to the IPO Eye, which tracks the IPO market.

The upcoming AskAround service will offer agents that search data from pre-determined web sites and within the AskAround community and then monitor those sources for updates or additional data that matches the user's personal criteria. An alert will be sent to the user when changes are detected. Alerts will be sent via email and later via wireless devices such as cell phones.
