AppsCo Introduces Major Upgrade Of Its Data Mart And Analytic Application Development Environment For Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
AppsCo Software Limited, a UK-based provider of data mart design and analytic application development solutions for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, have announced a major upgrade of the company's software environment that enables developers to build and deploy SQL Server 7.0-based data marts and analytic applications.
Using AppsMart, it is possible to start a design using an analytic application template, iterate the application design to meet requirements, and deploy the solution to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. AppsMart will automatically populate the data mart with sample data and integrate OLAP Services, Data Transformation Services (DTS) and Microsoft Office2000.
AppsMart 1.5 is fully integrated with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and the Microsoft Data Warehousing Framework. This ensures organizations can put together an integrated data warehousing solution from AppsCo and different vendors knowing that they have been designed to work together. AppsMart includes features for star schema design and deployment, and the automatic generation of OLAP Services cubes, DTS packages, and Office2000 reports and documentation. In addition, AppsMart 1.5 boasts integration with Microsoft Repository, a component of SQL Server 7.0 that provides life-cycle management services to store and share software components along with their descriptive information.
"Companies today need to implement decision support solutions much faster to meet pressing business needs," spoke Mark Allen Smith, program director for META Group's Application Delivery Strategies, "A comprehensive tool set, such as AppsCo's AppsMart, can help users to rapidly populate Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and OLAP Services. This enables business users to analyze information much more rapidly through best-of-breed tools and analytical applications."
World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. wanted to gain better insights into its financial data stored in Solomon IV, a widely used financial and business management system exclusively optimized for SQL Server 7.0. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment implemented a SQL Server 7.0-based sales analysis data mart that is providing the company insights into the sales data contained in Solomon's Order Processing Module. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment is using the data mart, which currently contains three years of sales data, to manage its highly lucrative home video business unit.
The sales analysis data mart was developed by CEP Systems, Inc., a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider (MCSP) partner that specializes in software development for manufacturing, accounting, and distributing systems. CEP Systems used AppsMart 1.5 to rapidly build, tailor, and deploy World Wrestling Federation Entertainment's sales analysis data mart in less than three weeks. The data mart is providing World Wrestling Federation Entertainment 12 different views of sales order information, as well as a variety of inquiry and forecasting screens and standard reports.
AppsMart consists of several components that work together to deliver an analytic application development solution. Solution providers start using an AppsMart template to create an AppsMart analytic application that encapsulates their domain expertise, which can then be customized using AppsMart to meet the customer's requirements. AppsMart contains a repository that allows the developer to manage meta data for analytic applications running on one or more database servers. It provides version management, documentation, and facilities to manage the deployment of applications.
