Acta Expands Data Warehousing Solutions For Extracting ERP Data To 64-Bit Operating Environment
Acta Technology, Inc. announced at the GartnerGroup's Symposium/ITxpo 99 conference that its award-winning data warehousing solutions will now be available on Solaris 7, a 64-bit operating environment by Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Solaris 7 will now support the Acta RapidMart suite, a series of pre-configured data warehouses for business analysis in specific areas such as sales, costs, accounting, and inventory. Acta solutions are all tightly integrated with ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications from major vendors such as SAP and PeopleSoft.
"The availability of Acta RapidMarts on the Sun's Solaris 7 Operating Environment is an exciting development for both of our companies," said Acta Technology President and CEO Carol Mills Baldwin. "Sun's 64-Bit operating environment is an important platform of the future for both enterprise computing and eCommerce, and ERP data warehousing will certainly play a big part in that future."
According to the GartnerGroup, the data warehousing and business-analysis market is expected to top $3 billion in 2000. Analysts expect the figure to grow as companies apply data warehousing architecture to Web-enabled customer relations and eCommerce. Several weeks ago, Acta Technology announced e2e, a new architecture for integrating ERP and other back-office data with Web applications.
"The Solaris Operating Environment allows enterprises to enjoy the high-performance standards of next-generation computing," says Jeff Bernard, Director of Solaris Software, Sun Microsystems. "With availability and support for RapidMarts, our customers are better positioned to take advantage of increasingly important packaged solutions for ERP data warehousing."
The Solaris 7 Operating Environment provides enhanced performance and scalability for both SPARC and Intel platforms via a full 64-bit kernel, which can deliver four billion times the maximum capacity of 32-bit operating environments. The 64-bit capacity allows many more applications to be consolidated onto a single server running the Solaris Operating Environment and adds increased headroom to existing hardware.
