Sybase.Startup.Com Focuses On Rapid Delivery Of E-Business Solutions For The Startup Market

Sybase, Inc. announced its plans to deliver Sybase.Startup.Com, a new program that delivers e-business solutions and services customized for the "dot.com" marketplace. Combining the company's flagship enterprise database, Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), with Sybase's award-winning Enterprise Application Server (EAServer), and with Professional Services, Sybase.Startup.Com provides everything required to build a mission-critical Internet back-end that can be up and running within 24 hours. Sybase.Startup.Com is an extension to Sybase's e-Map umbrella program that was announced in conjunction with Sybase's Enterprise Information Portal strategy earlier this year at the company's TechWave '99 User Conference. Startup companies developing applications with Sybase.Startup.Com can offer their customers personalized integration of content, commerce, and communities.

"Sybase.Startup.Com provides a powerful combination of portal-ready enterprise solutions, services, and education that are crucial for startups in an exceedingly competitive landscape," explains Richard LaBarbera, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sybase's Enterprise Solutions Division, "We provide startups both a dynamic Internet infrastructure that can grow as they grow, and the expertise to use it, which gives them a much faster path to profitability."

The following will be included in the low-cost developer version of Sybase.Startup.Com:

Optional add-on services at additional cost will include:

"We found the Sybase.Startup.Com products to be incredibly robust, completely scalable, and, frankly, the best Internet back-end solution available," said Kamran Mohsenin, Beta user of Sybase.Startup.Com and founder of OFoto.com, "In choosing Sybase.Startup.Com, OFoto has an enterprise-class application today, without the clunky migration path that's necessary with other vendors."

Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.0 (ASE), offers support for a high-availability companion server architecture with a two-node cluster configuration that supports Active/Active or Active/Passive failover servers. ASE also offers integrated Java and SQL support with a Java VM embedded in the database; extended XML support in the database including storage, retrieval and querying; and distributed transaction management (DTM) functionality leveraging industry standard XA interfaces to ensure the integrity of distributed transactions in a heterogeneous environment.

The developer version of Sybase.Startup.Com is scheduled for availability in the 4th Quarter of 1999; the price will be $8,995.00.
