Firstlogic Partners With Informatica

Firstlogic, Inc., developer of i.d.Centric data quality and Postalsoft print and mail software, announced a new addition to Informatica Corporation's family of data-integration software products. The i.d.Centric customer data quality solution offers users address verification, name parsing and genderization, and matching technology through a link built into Informatica's PowerCenter and PowerMart data-integration platform.

"Enterprises jumping with both feet into data warehouse modeling efforts neglect many critical activities that deal with assessing data source availability, accessibility, suitability, integratability, completeness, and accuracy," notes Doug Laney, senior program director with META Group. "Our research shows that outright successful data warehouse efforts are nearly three times more likely to deal with data quality issues proactively than those that fail. To this end, data quality leaders like Firstlogic and data integration leaders like Informatica are forging collaborations that address the requisite nature of data quality functions within an enterprise's overall information supply chain."

In a data-warehousing environment, organizations must be able to improve data quality, which is often a two-step process requiring both data cleansing and data transformation capabilities. Through this partnership, Informatica users can call upon the i.d.Centric data quality tools for parsing, correction, standardization, and enhancement of name and address information during the data transformation stage of building a data mart or data warehouse.

"Any application that uses customer information is only as good as the data it contains," says Art Petty, Firstlogic vice president of marketing. "Our customer data quality solutions are designed to work within Informatica's software platform and create an end-to-end data transformation solution for mid-sized businesses as well as enterprise corporations."
