Decisionpoint For Manufacturing Introduced

DecisionPoint Applications, Inc. extended its integrated DecisionPoint product line today with the introduction of DecisionPoint for Manufacturing -- a comprehensive packaged data warehouse solution for discrete and process manufacturing operations running Oracle, PeopleSoft or SAP manufacturing modules.

As the first packaged data warehouse solution of its kind, DecisionPoint for Manufacturing provides organizations with a pre-integrated, end-to-end data warehousing infrastructure and applications, installed in eight weeks or less, at a fraction of the cost of custom data warehouse projects. Working in concert with other members of the DecisionPoint product family -- DecisionPoint for Financials, DecisionPoint for Human Resources and DecisionPoint for Distribution -- the product provides organizations with a seamless and comprehensive view of an organization's operations from sales order to cash collection.

"Despite the claims of MRP (manufacturing resource planning) application vendors, performing detailed analysis on manufacturing data stored in MRP systems is often difficult and expensive," said Larry Scheurich, DecisionPoint Applications' chief technology officer. "What we've done with DecisionPoint for Manufacturing is simple: opened up the wealth of detailed data stored on a company's manufacturing operations for detailed analysis by manufacturing personnel and other interested parties, in a completely ad hoc manner. If the business question relates to work-in-process (WIP), bill of materials (BOM), inventory transactions, sales orders or pending purchasing requests, DecisionPoint for Manufacturing can answer it."

DecisionPoint for Manufacturing is a packaged, pre-integrated, end-to-end decision support system that focuses on the analytic needs of discrete and process manufacturing operations. In addition, as part of the fully integrated DecisionPoint product line, DecisionPoint for Manufacturing further extends an organization's ability to view its entire operations enabling key decision-makers to work more efficiently with their business-critical data.

"Manufacturing data is of interest to constituencies other than manufacturing," said Marc Demarest, chief executive officer for DecisionPoint Applications. "Ultimately, business management is trying to understand the company's concept-to-cash-flow cycle time, and a key segment of that cycle time is the order-to-cash cycle -- the time and activities between the receipt of a sales order and the receipt of cash for the fulfillment of that order. Because all of the data in the DecisionPoint Warehouse is federated, organizations can -- with DecisionPoint for Financials and DecisionPoint for Manufacturing -- understand their order-to-cash cycle time, in near real-time, at any level of detail, down to individual customers, shipments and transactions. This represents a quantum leap forward in management-by-the-numbers."

Pricing And Availability

DecisionPoint for Manufacturing is available immediately for Oracle and PeopleSoft customers through DecisionPoint Applications' worldwide sales force and through a global network of DPA-certified system integrators. DecisionPoint for Manufacturing for SAP customers will be available in the first quarter of 2000. Prices for a complete implementation of DecisionPoint for Manufacturing start at approximately U.S. $350,000.
