Informatica Hits Need For Cross-Channel Data Integration

Informatica Corporation announced new software designed to have a strong impact on the emerging world of e-business. With its release of PowerCenter.e, the industry's first multi-channel data-integration infrastructure software for e-business analysis, Informatica is addressing companies' critical need to gain enterprise-wide insight into customer, sales, supply-chain, and procurement activity from both their traditional and Internet-based businesses. PowerCenter.e is the first product to let companies access, integrate, analyze, and move data involving multiple channels, and is especially optimized to address the unique technical and business requirements of serious e-businesses.

"Business intelligence is a must-have for e-businesses as its one of their best means of winning and keeping customers. Done right, e-business intelligence can deliver a personalized, one-to-one Web experience, targeted service selection, and an integrated fulfillment chain," said Colin White, founder of DataBase Associates. "Informatica is leading the charge among today's data-integration vendors to deliver a powerful, scalable infrastructure capable of supporting e-business analysis. Their success to date is evidenced by the large number of dot-com companies currently relying on Informatica to power their e-business analysis efforts."

PowerCenter.e provides an infrastructure for major e-business Web sites that require access to Web-transaction and clickstream data, as well as more traditional enterprise data sources, including ERP systems, relational databases, mainframes and external demographic databases. To date, more than 35 companies have chosen Informatica software to build mission-critical e-business analytic infrastructure, including 1-800-FLOWERS, Beyond.com, Cisco, CNET, DrugEmporium.com, EC Direct, Healtheon/WebMD, Inktomi, Listen.com, Netcentives, Preview Travel, Priceline.com, Shopping.com, Snap.com, Stamps.com, StoreRunner.com, UUNET and VerticalOne Corporation.

"In the new Internet economy, the consolidation, customization, analysis and distribution of 'actionable information' is a must-have capability for serious e-business. Without this, e-businesses are flying blind," said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. "The vision behind PowerCenter.e is to give e-businesses access to data needed for enterprise-wide insight into operations, markets, customers, suppliers, distribution channels and human resources. With this kind of insight, we believe e-businesses can do such things as dynamically alter business models on the fly, personalize a customers' experience on the Web, analyze inventory and logistics in near real time, improve supply chain efficiencies, and improve customer acquisition and loyalty."
