SUN DELIVERS SYS INFRASTRUCTURE TO ORACLE CUSTOMERS

Click For More InformationContinuing to meet customers' demand for bottom-line pricing, innovation and choice, Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced that in the last six months a bevy of new customers has selected Oracle E-Business Suite 11i on the Sun Solaris Operating System (OS). As a leading platform for over 35 percent of Oracle E- Business Suite implementations, Sun has recently attracted additional customers around the globe, including Emerson, HM Prisons Service (UK), Northumberland County Council and University of Virginia.

Anchored by decades of joint technology collaboration, Sun and Oracle continue to offer completely tested and configured Oracle E-Business Suite solutions for companies of any size -- from enterprise to mid-market. In addition to the popular Solaris OS SPARC platform, customers can deploy Oracle E-Business Suite on industry-standard Red Hat and SuSE distributions of Linux on Sun x86 platforms.

Edmonton Public Schools

The Edmonton, Alberta, public school system is leveraging the Sun platform and Oracle databases for all its high-end administrative computing needs. In addition, the school district chose the Oracle E-Business Suite to provide its financial applications. Already, the Sun and Oracle solutions are delivering

20 percent higher user productivity and 75 percent shorter month-end processing, compared with the previous mainframe-based applications.

"A lot of our success is due to the excellent synergy between Sun and Oracle, one of the reasons why we've standardized on them for all of our high-end computing needs," said Brenda Boychuk, Senior Data Base Analyst, Edmonton Public Schools.
