Cluster Computing:GLOBALSTOR DEMOS DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING SOFTWAREGlobalstor Data Corp., a leading distributor of network storage solutions, and Cluster Computing Corp., developer of a distributed computing software, demonstrated the latest version of ComputePool (v.2.4.0) on an RAID-based network system during NAB at Globalstor's hospitality suite in the Las Vegas Hilton, suite no. 4103. ComputePool was used to manage video content and data workflow between JMR's new Fortra i6 15-Bay 2GB Fibre Channel RAID and Fortra A2 15-Bay 2G Fibre to SATA RAID solutions, creating a virtual storage pool that can be quickly and easily accessed by anyone, anywhere on the network. Analyst studies show that even organizations with well-implemented networks and computer structures will typically never use more than 25% of their potential computing power due to off hours, idle time, workflow logistics, inefficiency and the general complexity of managing systemwide resources manually. ComputePool's unique clustering package is ideally suited for JMR's IDE and SATA RAID centralized storage solutions.
"The whole reason organizations invest in a network is to improve workflow and conserve resources," said Toby Gallo, VP business development of Cluster Computing Corp. "ComputePool allows processing of work to be distributed over multiple computers, in order to utilize all available power 24 hours a day. The net effect in typical installations is a 3x to 5x increase in the amount of work done per hardware dollar spent." On the corporate level, the benefits of integrating ComputePool into an enterprise network are great, including significantly reduced costs for hardware acquisition, administrative personnel and physical facilities. In addition, ComputePool can also be used to align the use of computing resources with corporate-level priorities by intelligently managing workflow. As a result, high-priority projects receive the majority of the available resources. "For our clients, the benefit of integrating ComputePool is that their project times are cut resulting in quicker time to market and a higher quality final product," said Scott Leif, president of Globalstor Data. "ComputePool is already deeply integrated with the most popular applications in the visual effects, postproduction and graphic arts industries, and we are pleased to be able to add them to our offering." Easy to use, ComputePool manages all available computing resources automatically and adeptly handles the complexity of distributing work to dozens, hundreds, even thousands of computers with enterprise-class speed and robustness. During NAB, Globalstor Data and JMR demonstrated network environments managed for maximum workflow by ComputePool at Globalstor's hospitality suite in the Las Vegas Hilton, room no. 4103. |
