Cluster Computing:QLUSTERS PARTNERS W/ RACKABLE TO PROVIDE UTILITY COMPUTINGQlusters, Inc. announced a strategic partnership with Rackable Systems to integrate and co-market a comprehensive enterprise management solution. The joint solution is based on Qlusters' ClusterFrame enterprise cluster management software and Rackable Systems' rack-mount cluster servers. The combined utility computing enterprise solution targets large-scale Linux- based data centers. ClusterFrame minimizes IT costs by optimizing the operation of Linux clusters deployed on commodity hardware. The three components of ClusterFrame address three vital requirements of the enterprise data center: ClusterFrame QRM (Qlusters Resource Manager) provides policy-based management; ClusterFrame XHA (Xtreme High Availability) adds instant hardware and application fail- over; ClusterFrame SSI (Single System Image) completes the package with transparent hardware virtualization. Qlusters and Rackable Systems will exhibit their combined solution at the upcoming Linux on Wall Street show on April 28. Held at the Roosevelt hotel in Manhattan, Linux on Wall Street focuses on financial market applications for open source, grid and utility computing. "Linux installations are expected to grow at an annual rate of 22% in the North American securities market over 2003 - 2006," according to Senior Analyst Dushyant Shahrawat at TowerGroup.
"Qlusters is forging key strategic partnerships within the exploding utility computing market." said Dave Martin, CEO and Chairman of Qlusters. "Partnering with Rackable Systems provides our IT customers a tightly integrated utility computing solution." Utility Computing is the ability to provide computing as a ubiquitous service, adapting to changing user and application needs. Enterprise cluster management is an integral part of utility computing, an emerging paradigm for IT systems management. With ClusterFrame, Qlusters harnesses computing resources to provide a manageable, dynamically scalable and highly available data center for both hardware and applications. About QlustersFounded in 2001, Qlusters, Inc. delivers ClusterFrame: enterprise cluster management software that optimizes computing resource use for enterprise Linux applications. ClusterFrame provides policy-based management, high availability, and scalability services to meet dynamic application needs. In August 2003, ClusterFrame was recognized at LinuxWorld as a Product Excellence Award finalist for "Best Cluster Solution." ClusterFrame reduces administrative overhead by using policy-based management to efficiently deploy computing resources across applications. For mission-critical applications, ClusterFrame provides high availability at low cost through both hardware and application failover. ClusterFrame scalability services ensure that applications seamlessly scale at times of peak resource demand. Qlusters is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with regional offices in New York City and Tel Aviv, Israel. |
