SGI SERVERS TO HELP INDIAN AUTO MAKERS

India's Tata Motors will be taking advantage of Itanium 2 based SGI servers in order to allow further Product Lifecycle Management capability efforts as well as provide visualization networks to workstations.

The Indian automobile company hopes to see a unification of product lifecycle and an expansion of the global enterprise through the transcendence of physical and technical obstacles.

In addition, it is hoped that the deployment will help to fix complex design problems by using Visual Area Networking (VAN) from the SGI platforms. The servers, comprised of SGI Onyx 3900 and Intel Itanium 2 based SGI Altix 3300 servers, will be run in four separate areas. Running applications include BEA Weblogic, Apache, Java and SGI IRIX OS.
