Cluster Computing:

MEIOSYS OFFERS HIGH PERFORMANCE CLUSTERS W/ HP

Meiosys, a provider of transparent middleware solutions for optimizing and protecting business-critical applications, announced its offer for higher levels of availability and management flexibility of high performance computational clusters with HP. Meiosys's MetaCluster HPC will be integrated in HP's LC Linux Cluster Software Solutions Stack.

MetaCluster HPC is a transparent and generic software solution for checkpoint and restart (CPR), application migration and resource optimization for high- performance computing environments. MetaCluster HPC provides these functions without the need to modify, re-install or re-link applications. The solution provides flexible configuration options for application checkpoint and relocation and, thanks to its generic and transparent nature, MetaCluster HPC offers easy integration, leaving the customer's environment untouched.

The combination of MetaCluster HPC availability solutions and HP's LC Series high performance Linux clusters provide a robust solution for HP's HPTC customers that lets them focus on research, design, and development of their products.

"The availability of our products with the HP LC line of high performance Linux Clusters is a natural next step for Meiosys," said Marc Rougier, CEO and President of Meiosys. "It also represents good market timing as we have great customer traction, and more companies are looking into deploying clusters for technical computing. The robustness of HP clusters combined with Meiosys's high availability solutions not only addresses the growing need for availability and flexibility in high performance computing, but also provide a solid foundation for utility computing in the data center."

"HP continuously strives to incorporate innovative software offerings in our solutions stack to provide our customers with the industry's best solutions," said Winston Prather, vice president, High Performance Technical Computing Division, HP. "Meiosys' software provides features that the HPTC community needs as they continue to adopt cluster technology for their high performance computing."

The combined solutions address high performance computing needs in the EDA, digital content management, life sciences markets, financial engineering, manufacturing, oil and gas, and governmental computing.

Often referred to as "cluster computing on steroids," Grid computing is for real. Web services, utility computing, .NET, CPU harvesting and distributed computing are just a few of the technologies that fall under the Grid computing umbrella. Gt04 -- a premiere enterprise Grid computing conference targeting industrial and commercial users -- will gather experts, and outline strategies and road maps for Grid deployment.
