News Briefs - Hardware:Rackable Ranked Intel’s Largest Server Integrator In N. AM.Rackable Systems, Inc., a leading provider of servers for large-scale data center deployments, announced it has been ranked as Intel Corporation’s largest server integrator customer in North America for 2003. A market leader in both sales volume for CPUs and motherboards, Rackable Systems is also a large channel customer of Intel motherboards worldwide. "Rackable Systems is an integral member of Intel’s Premier Provider Program with increasing sales volume for Intel processors and motherboards in the server market," said Willy Agatstein, general manager of Intel’s Reseller Products Group. "With its flexible, build-to-order approach, Rackable Systems rack-mount servers allow customers to choose from a variety of hardware designs that complement our product offerings. We are delighted with the amount of sales Rackable Systems achieved in 2003 and look forward to an even stronger 2004." "Our broad line of rack-mount compute and storage server solutions allows us the flexibility to offer a wide range of Intel-based servers," said Tom Barton, president and CEO, Rackable Systems. "As data centers continue to move toward open standards and architectures, we are committed to presenting our customers with superior, scalable solutions paired with the performance and value offered by Intel’s processors and motherboards." "Rackable Systems’ consistent growth over the last few years quickly positioned the company as a significant player in the US server market in a relatively short period of time," said John Humphreys, Research Manager, IDC. "We find that customers value and appreciate server vendors that provide the flexibility and expertise to integrate scalable solutions and these vendors are changing the dynamics of the entire server market." IDC recently highlighted Rackable Systems as one of the potentially disruptive vendors in the server market. Since the company’s inception in 1999, Rackable Systems and Intel have worked closely to develop a strong server channel partner relationship. This is the second year in a row Rackable Systems was honored by Intel; in 2002, Rackable Systems was named Fastest Growing Server Integrator by Intel. With a flexible, build-to-order approach, Rackable Systems’ rack-mount server solutions have been shown to reduce Total Cost of Ownership by up to 85% over Dell, HP and IBM. The company’s patented server designs in 1U, 2U and 3U form factors feature key competitive differentiators in the areas of density, serviceability, open architecture, remote management, thermal efficiency and power distribution. The company achieved 100% growth and its third straight year of profitability in 2003. |
