ARL MSRC, RAYTHEON, AND OSC ANNOUNCE SECOND ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM

The Army Research Laboratory Major Shared Resource Center (ARL MSRC), Raytheon, and Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) are pleased to announce the second annual symposium entitled "On the Use of Commodity Clusters for Large- Scale Scientific Applications 2004." This year's international program will address challenges associated with the rapidly expanding interest in the use of commodity computer clusters for scientific applications. The symposium will explore the suitability of these clusters to operate within a heterogeneous production computing environment to solve very large scientific applications - requiring extensive computer resources and execution times. Concerns addressed will include: life-cycle costs, system stability, as well as system management and administration.

The symposium will break out issues in five main topic areas:

  • Technology trends
  • Production issues
  • Scientific visualization
  • Computational applications
  • High performance storage

For additional information on the complete program, please visit: http://www.arl.hpc.mil/Clusters2004/program.html.

ARL MSRC, Raytheon, and OSC welcome press to attend this educational event. Session content is completely "on the record" and many of the keynote presenters will be available for interviews. To register as press, please contact Rhett Skelton at 703-883-9000 ext. 122, rskelton@okco.com by Friday, July 23, 2004.
