Qlusters To Deliver High Availability Mgt For Linux Apps

Qlusters, Inc., a leader in Linux data center solutions, announces the immediate availability of ClusterFrame version 1.8. This new software release includes breakthrough functionality that periodically polls data center applications to automatically detect hardware or software malfunctions and perform preemptive failover. ClusterFrame v1.8 reallocates hardware resources in real-time, ensuring that application uptime goals are consistently achieved with minimum hardware resources.

"Businesses cannot tolerate downtime of mission-critical applications, and data center managers cannot ignore the economies of commodity hardware and Linux," said Dave Martin, CEO of Qlusters. "With ClusterFrame, our customers can confidently leverage Linux for mission-critical business processes and achieve unprecedented business and technology efficiencies."

ClusterFrame v1.8 introduces non-intrusive monitoring agents that are easily customized to monitor vital signs of mission-critical applications running on Linux. Utilizing these agents, ClusterFrame detects possible application malfunctions in real-time and performs preemptive failover of the affected applications, without requiring human intervention. This unique automatic healing capability improves data center quality of service and availability, while minimizing labor costs.

ClusterFrame v1.8 incorporates innovative virtualization capabilities that allow a pool of backup resources to be shared by multiple applications in case of failure. ClusterFrame also delivers real-time hardware reallocation and monitoring capabilities that constantly ensure application availability goals are met using the smallest possible number of servers. For example, if a data center manager determines that up to 15 percent of application processing capacity could become unavailable due to machine failure at any one time, then a compute resource pool equal to 15 percent of actual application capacity would be required to meet application uptime goals. ClusterFrame v1.8 can ensure these criteria are automatically met allowing data center managers to avoid over-provisioning applications, and dramatically reduce hardware, software, and operating costs.

Improvements added to this new release of ClusterFrame also include historic and real-time resource utilization reports that provide concise and comprehensive data required for effective IT optimization planning.

Industry-leading solutions from Qlusters include:

  • ClusterFrame QRM - real-time application provisioning management
  • ClusterFrame SSI - the only software solution that transparently scales applications on Linux commodity hardware
  • ClusterFrame XHA - the industry's fastest application failover for commodity Linux clusters
