Engenio Uses Common Sense With Qlogic

Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., formerly LSI Logic Storage Systems, Inc., a leader in delivering technology that enables high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, announced the QLogic SANbox 5200 stackable switch has achieved compatibility certification.

Engenio's certification will provide support for 10Gb transfer between switches, a new industry standard for high-speed interoperability, ease of use and customer satisfaction. 10Gb Fibre Channel solutions will deliver up to six times the inter-switch bandwidth of current 2Gb Fibre Channel products.

"At QLogic one of our main initiatives is to further the development of standards-based technologies to achieve interoperability between multi-vendor storage environments," said, Frank Berry, QLogic Corporation Vice President of Marketing.

"As storage networks continue to progress to unprecedented levels of speed, certification of our solutions from companies such as Engenio, will provide our customers with proven connectivity platforms and an infrastructure that will transfer data with more speed and ease than any before it, sustaining growth to 10Gb and beyond."

The Engenio Certified Compatible process requires extensive testing to ensure stability, interoperability, and fault tolerance using heavy loads typical of high performance enterprise computing. QLogic is a leading provider of technology that supports Storage Area Networks. QLogic's controller chips, host bus adapters, network switches and management software move data from storage devices through the network fabric to servers. QLogic's SANbox 5000 Series supports traffic between switches at 10Gb per second, supporting cascade fabrics with 2 or more inter- switch links (ISLs).

"Solutions from Engenio and QLogic will give our customers the confidence and means to create highly available, scalable storage solutions that enable immediate access to information," said Julie Ryan, Engenio Manager Of Alliances. "As storage performance continues to expand across the enterprise, centralized SAN management becomes more important for leveraging its full potential. We are pleased to partner with QLogic in this important endeavor."
